This spa resort is perhaps the only late-Hellenistic present in northern Etruria, as witnessed by major artifacts such as earthenware tiles with the stamp of the Etruscans. The complex was composed of buildings arranged around a large quadrangle with a porch on which opened the various systems of tanks and compartments attached to them. This area is now emerging an archaeological park that will introduce this site to a wide audience of exceptional interest. Its uniqueness is due, as shown by excavations, the fact that it has developed throughout history.
The monumentality and breadth of the complex, which extends far beyond the area surveyed so far, probably makes it easy to identify with one of the spas listed in the segment IV of the Tabula Peutingeriana. The Terme di Sasso Pisano are the thread that unites the natural environment of the valley and its sources. Its use by the Etruscans to reach the current exploitation of geothermal power plants.
The spa also clarify the current use of the thermal waters that started the cults of prehistoric times, passing through the culture of the baths of the Romans, to get up today and be a source of clean energy.
