Church of San Frediano

The church is located near the Sapienza. Currently, the entire complex (church and adjoining monastery) is being restored by the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio Pisa.
Existing church in the mid-ninth century, has a Pisan Romanesque architecture, similar to the church of San Pietro in Cascina Vinculis and to the church, dating from the late eleventh century. The stone facade is set on three levels. The tower is square with a stone base and brick continue. The interior has a basilica plan with three naves, is formed by two rows of seven columns with Roman capitals and anthropomorphic zooformi. The church is full of sculptures, carvings and paintings.
