Church of San Giorgio degli Innocenti or Germans
Via Santa Maria
56126 – Pisa
It is not open to the public.
The church stands next to a former Foundling Hospital. In the Middle Ages was called the Church of San Giorgio to the Germans because it was built in honor of German mercenaries, allies of the Pisani, who died in the victorious battle against the Guelphs of Montecatini in Tuscany. It was restored in the Romanesque style.
Inside are a crucifix and some of the German school oval paintings of Ceuli.
